I've been using an older CNC drill for all my line and construction boring for the last few years. It replaced my previous method of using a Powermatic line drill and biscuits and screws, and has been a great piece of equipment. Since moving to my new shop last year I have not been able to get the CNC up and running. Luckily for the last year I've been busy with everything but cabinetry, but that's changed and now I need to resolve this situation. I have a tech coming in the near future from a couple states away, but he's not overly optimistic my spending a lot of money on a 30+ year old machine is the best way to go…..can't say I blame him. So in the meantime I figure I'll start doing some homework on drilling options.
Sooooo, what makes/models have you guys used and what did you think of them? I'll probably be going used but it's always good to know what to avoid and/or what to aim for. Right now I'm thinking if the CNC does turn into an anchor, I'll look for a double row line boring and separate construction drill. Don't want to waste time changing bits constantly. Anything else I should look for?
thanks,
