I had to do a ton of them a five or six years ago in a kitchen. Basically all of the wall cabinets that were pairs got bypass doors.
I ended up dado'ing a groove into the top and bottom deck, and I sunk an aluminum C channel into it. In that channel rode a piece of uhmw plastic that went almost the full width of the door. I recessed it into the front door (top and bottom), and I think just applied it to the back door, (top and bottom again)
With a little wax, they worked REALLY well, and there's nothing to break. Even dry they were pretty darn good. I had to attach the top piece of umhw with the door in place, and the plastic in the groove, I remember that being a giant pain in the rear.
I didn't ever get a call back on it, so I assume they're still doing well. The client was a bit hard on things too. They apparently would open drawers, then lean on them while trying to remember why they opened them. A call back on the trash roll out from stuffing the cans to hard and I had to adjust almost every drawer in the house upwards. It's the only time I had ever had a call back on a trash roll out, and I had to go there twice.
