Paintable PVC

Hi Everyone,

I am doing a euro style kitchen where the contractor just wants me to apply the primer in the shop - he will do the final painting on site after installation. A rep from ESI claims to have an edge banding material (PVC, I think) that doesn't need a primer - just paint the top coats directly on. This sounds attractive and would save me a lot of time but I need to be reasonably assured the paint won't just peel off. Has anyone tried this or found another "pre-primed" product that works? Thanks in advance!

I've used it on maybe 4 or 5 kitchens. Paints just fine. We don't use it anymore because when cutting pre banded material, the pvc seems to want to come unglued where the cut is made to an inch past. We have a little AMT gluepot bander, so perhaps it's our bander or the glue we are using (Jowat pellets). I'd use it if we didn't have this problem. Scuff sand was recommended by our finisher

We used paintable pvc edge banding recently and had no problems at all with the final finish. Worked like a charm. It has primer on it ready for finish. I would defiantly recommend it.

Works great, I have used a lot of it with waterborne finishes and it's nice to not have to knock down the grain like a maple band. I especially like how it's translucent and you can see how much of it is actually adhered to the wood. Great for machine setup.
