Wide belt sander

Any of you guys have experience with a wide belt sander? I have a 37” Grizzly that I’m having trouble with the belt oscillation. The cylinder that actuates the roller physically works, but is not getting the proper signal, I guess. It’s been working fairly decent but has gotten progressively worse over the last few weeks. Now it just won’t track at all. The manual is quite limited in details regarding this. Thanks

It would help if you told us what method of tracking it used. Optical, pneumatic, or mechanical?

Sorry, didn’t know there were options. Mine is pneumatic

If you don't have enough air pressure or if the sensor where the other end of the pneumatic hose is blowing is dirty, it won't track well or at all. Also bad belts can cause poor tracking.

Their should be a flat pancake metal casting that is housing a filter. This is near the air separator that cleans the pneumatic air before it goes to the cylinders. Most of the time I’ve had problems with mine this is the fix. Not a lot that can go wrong with pneumatic.

After digging a little deeper today, I realized that the cylinder that moves the upper roller back and forth, has a hole in the diagram. It was very tiny. I noticed it when I applied direct pressure with my air hose, that it would not hold. Luckily, Grizzly has updated the diagram style to a more modern pneumatic cylinder and I have one on the way. Thanks for the replies
