Dedicated dowel or biscuiting machine, suggestions?

Are there any machines available that cut biscuit slots (or, dowel holes) that would be comparable in function to a cabinet-style Castle pocket hole machine?

We would want something with hard stops for precise indexing, and it would need to be able to cut slots (or drill dowels) both vertically and horizontally, so that we can assemble items 90-degrees.

We have a good handheld bisc jointer and a very good handheld dowel jig but we're looking for ways to speed up the fabrication of a few of our items.

Pocket screws are not the solution here, these are items that don't have enough clearance to fit a drill/pocket screw into.

We can work with either dowels or biscuits here. For dowels we'd probably use plastic barbed 8mm dowels.

The second step would be a CNC bore and insert. I have an Omal and it is very good.
You can order it with many options.

Maybe not exactly what you're asking for, but the Versidex table is the first (and least expensive) thing that comes to mind. If you're looking for serious automation, Pillar Machine and Gannomat companies have built models to work with our P-System processing, but it would work with regular biscuits too I imagine, with some modification:

Gents, thank you all for the suggestions here. I apologize for the late reply but I came down sick and have been out for several weeks.

You've all shown me some good possibilities, with our current volume we're looking at something more similar to the Versidex, but need to think through how this might work in our application. Some of the items we assemble can be upwards of 10ft long.

Imagine if you were trying to biscuit together a 10' tall column made from 4" wide plywood sides. That's a crude example of how this might get used.

I suspect we're looking for something that we'll have to fabricate ourselves.
