I rarely have negative remarks to make about tools, but the Virutec Ovvo machine is really a piece of junk and the local supplier is not helpful,
I bought one with sets of fasteners as I had several projects that required hidden fasteners thst could be used on site.
Our work is expensive and figured even at 8-900.00 it would pay fir itself,
Very hard to set up and use with any accuracy and the joints are not strong, very thin plastic and holding strength is pathetic, I was lucky that the cabinets had 3/4” backs to keep everything rigid,
Called local Miami distributor and he was not only not any help But downright condescending. I told him I would keep the open package of fasteners but wsnt to return the machine. No answer at all.
If you need to have hidden fasteners usd the lamello Divario, strong and easy to use and tye company backs up thier product.
I contacted a distributor on the west coast fir the virutex to get done advise snd he was very helpful but said that it was a piece of junk and they stopped carrying it
Live and learn, but others should know, in our present time customer service is or should be king snd this product sucks

I looked at the Lamello for a couple of years and when you stated on this site how good it was I went ahead and bought it. Great tool but I find the fittings to be expensive. Is this why you wanted the other tool?

They are exoensive but I don’t use them to build cabinets all day. If you watch some of the videos on yul tube you will find great uses for them for time saving situations and time is money!
I use blum inserta hinges even though they are more expensive and cam baseplates as they save way more money in time at install then the extra cost.
Instead of using clamps to wait for a glued joint to dry , the clamex pulls the joint together and the joined parts can be machined. We use a lot of high gloss acrylic products and I can miter parts , use the clamex for either on site joining or in conjunction with glue make a mitered column or soffit without having to use lots of masking tape while joints dry.
The divario inserts allow on site Irvin shop joining with no visible hardware , but I don’t do this every day.
I firmly believe that a specialized dedicated tool can pay for itself menu times over in saved labor.
I have tiger rip fences on my two sliders for the sake reason, saves walking around the saw and 100% accuracy and repeatability are priceless for me and the cost of the fence pays fir itself quckly

I agree just wondering what the use of the Virutec machine would have done for you that the Lamello doesn’t. The Lamello is a fine tool and I have used the clamex fittings on installations and the tenso on some long miters.

Al, I wanted something thst could be slid together and also be able to reassemble without the visible hole that the clamex ones have.

We are currently trying out the Lockdowel system on our first project, and have been really happy with the results so far.

And the buy in cost is minimal if you have a cnc and accurate end boring. Just cost of a router bit and the fasteners themselves.
