glass retainer mldg.

Hi,
Does anyone have a good method for inserting glass retainer moulding into the kerfs of a glass cabinet door? I feel like I have tried everything, from heating it up, to using a block of wood , and still find it a miserable experience that leaves my fingers aching. Thanks

Because of exactly what you have said, we throw that stuff in the trash can and inset glass with a small bead of silicone and glass clips.

The vinyl roll material we just push in with a wide putty knife. What I hate about it is if its stored in a roll/box for any period it seems no matter what we do its hard to get the memory out of it. Ive long hoped to find a ridgid snap in retainer that can be bought in 6 or 8 foot lengths but never had any luck.
Ive never been happy with the silicone option. Have done it a few times and even used black/brown silicone and it seems worse than the retainer to me but its definitely the most common solution I see on glass doors.

Thanks for the responses. Glad I'm not the only one who struggles with it .

They make a tool for inserting screen for screen doors. I wonder if something like that could work?
