Question for Dennis
5/23/21
I’m doing a kitchen with pie cut out corners that has the two doors hinged together and then one door hinged to cabinet side. Pretty standard and have done quite a few. However customer wants one door wider so maybe one door 12” and the other door 14”. She wants this so adjacent cabinet doors on left and right of corner cabinet are same. To be more specific corner cabinet with 12” door next to 30” drawer base and then 16” door on other side of cooktop. She wants them equal so a 14” door on corner and then a 14” on other side of drawer base. There is no lazy Susan just a shelf in corner cabinet. I don’t see a problem doing this and am thinking wider door gets hinged on cabinet side. Just wondering if I am missing something here.
Thanks,
Al

I have done many corner cabinets that are wider on one side than the other. I have never had a problem.

Thanks for responses. I didn’t think there would be a problem but thought I would post just in case I was missing something.
I use Salice brand hinges and Dennis is a rep for them and always has good info.

I call them an uneven leg corner, no problem, I have always tried to hinge the wider door to the cabinet because it has the weight of both doors.

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe it makes any difference which door you hinge, at least as far as the stress on the hinges. Same weight, same total distance from the hinges to the outer door edge.
