build up on roller feeders of drum sander - how to clean
2/10/22
I am not sure I posted this in the right section, so apologies if wrong. we recently purchased a used woodmaster double drum sander, 5075x2. while cleaning it and setting it up for use we realized that the rubber rollers have quite a bit of build up on them. we are not sure if it is from the previous owner using it on sappy wood or maybe some wet glue... but the build up is sufficient enough to make us think that it will leave impressions in the panels that we will be passing through.
I have seen that some recommend the use of mineral spirits or alcohol to clean them and others are using household cleaners. we do not want to damage the rollers by using something wrong on them and having further issues down the road. short of flecking or picking off these spots with a finger nail, does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

Try a 50/50 blend of ammonia to water, if it is glue, it will soften it right up. I cannot imagine a blend like that would damage any type of roller.

Wet glue going through a sander? Highly unlikely! I like Simple Green for cleaning up sap.

Spray 9. It works like a charm. Can also use it to take gum buildup off of blades. Gum literally melts off.
