How to fit Hettich Concealed Hinges

Hey guys,

First time cabinet maker here so please be gentle..

I've brought some concealed Hettich soft close Sensys hinges and want to fit them on a full overlay door.

My wood is 19mm thick and 123mm tall, but i've got so many questions:

How do I know how far to drill the 35mm hole from the edge?
How do I measure a 3rd hinge since it's not from the edge?
Cup distance? How do I know how many mm that should be?

I've brought this template jig which i'm sure will make it easier, but I don't know how to calculate the above measurements in the first place to be able to use it

The cup distance is a function of a few factors. You will need to know your desired overlay. You mentioned that your panels are 19mm so do you want a 19mm overlay or leave a gap between doors?
Next you will have to check what "D" thickness your mounting plates are. They are stamped in very small print D-1.5 , D-3 etc.
There are charts in the Hettich book to calculate your C cup distance based upon the above. Probably available online too.
Or you could start with a scrap and drill your 35mm hole 5mm from the edge, mount a hinge and plate and check your overlay. Add more C distance if you don't have enough or vise versa.
I use D-0 or D-3 depending on the situation

Thanks so much for your response,

So yes, I don't want any gaps from the side panel so I want a 19mm overlay. My mounting plate has a D of 1.5 on the plate, however what I don't understand is in the chart for full overlay, a 19mm overall only has a D distance of 0.5, it's very confusing. Whereas for inset doors the chart is measured by door thickness, any ideas?

You can get more overlay outside of the charts recommendation. Add a mm to the chart's C distance for a .5mm plate. Test this with scrap.
Inset doors are a special case because of the risk of the outside edge of the door rubbing as the door swings open. Door gaps come into the equation.
As you approach the extreme of full overlay and C distance, gap between doors and cabinet face becomes an issue. You may have to push the doors out to ensure the inside edge doesn't rub against the face of the cabinet.
All that said, I find the charts hit the target all the time. The only hinge adjustments I need to make are for door sag or tweaking gaps

Thank you, just to make sure i've explained myself properly i've attached some photos of what i'm trying to achieve, I've just stood the pieces up from the ground in the photo. So it's two doors that will open, is that a 19mm overlay? Sorry I'm not sure i completely understand the terminology yet.

Yes it looks like you are aiming for 19mm overlay.
