Was the machine totally broken? You don't say what the damage was.
It might be worth asking an attorney about this (I'm not one). I don't know if Grizzly or the shipper are responsible for this. I do know that the absence of insurance to cover a loss has nothing to do with a party's responsibility to cover that loss.
I'm also quite certain that if the shipper is responsible to you for the loss, no agreement with Grizzly alleviates their responsibility to you.
I know nothing is clear cut in the law, but I do believe there is an answer to your issue; I just don't know what it is.
I am aware of bailments and the three types. That may come into play.
With all due respect to RichC, I don't believe it was your fault, although the shipping companies do make recipients sign some interesting releases, like they won't accept responsibility for any loss reported after the item has been removed from the property, which mean, you have to open and inspect every box in front of them, which is unreasonable.
In any case, thank you for informing us. I'll stay away from, or be careful with Grizzly.
