Both 5X10 with auto load / unload.
Very similar specs and price.
Fast moves 80M/M

The H80 is new and in between the H08 and the H10.

Rover:
has tool changer on side of Gantry.
more drills in X - 11
I am in Charlotte - As is Biesse.

H80:
Has bar tool holder with dust cover.
8 drills in X
Felder is in Delaware. Tech Rep in Charlotte - Very sharp guy.
No service tech in Charlotte at this time.
They are trying to hire one now.

Drills in X are important to me as we do closets. Lots of 74 hole runs.
10 plunges per line with 8
7 plunges per line with 11
Tool change speed not a big issue as we mainly cut with one bit.

What is the spindle HP on both?
What software do you currently use?
What software will be provided with the machine.

In my opinion the Biesse machine with larger boring block and ride along tool changer will give you faster production times.

Both are 10kw spindles
I have my own cam package with nesting that I wrote. Using KCD or ClosetPro as CAD.

I will have to learn either languages. I used Biesse before but I am pretty sure the formats have changed. Not a big issue or difference on both. Every new machine I have to learn new coding. This will be the 4th. :-)

Both quotes include a integrated cad/cam package. Felder uses TPA controller so TPA cam. Biessse has bSolid.

Biesse makes good products. I do not know much about Felder.

Being you are in Charlotte, Biesse makes sense. Service, parts, training all right there.

Which has the best service?

Since Felder does not have service it is Biesse. Easy answer.

We used to have a Biesse Rover FT. It was ok had some issues so when it came time to replace it we looked at all major brands. We decided on a Holzher Dynestic now and could not be happier. It is a solid heavy duty machine and we have had zero issues since installation 18 months ago.
I wouldn't touch Felder. We had a table saw form them it never worked. Could never get support.

6 Biesse machines and counting.

Out of 14 years we have been down 12 days total in all machines combined.

Currently, we have 2 cnc routers going 6-8 hours a day.

Our Rover S FT, with conveyer is very efficient for the boxes. Our Rover 30 deals with the corian and plam tops

SCM is great on parts and service too.

With all due respect with 21 people on our staff I would only trust a machine company such as Biesse, Homag or SCM. When you need parts, you need them and they usually have them. Don’t ask about price, because that will make you cringe with most machine manufacturers, just like Kluber

Make damned sure no matter what you buy, you need to do maint. Trust, but verify it’s getting done.

Never ceases to amaze me an operator cries about a tool change not happening then you find out they have not greased the spindle fingers for the fool holders

I've had 3 routers, go for the one with the best support.... One extra drill spindle isn't going to make much difference.

I have some Felder tool, and honestly, have not been impressed with their support. The tools themselves are nice.

For what you pay, they are not incredibly helpful (at least in the US) compared to a lot of other companies i've dealt with (Biesse, etc)

They aren't useless, but i wouldn't want to be depending on their support for my livelihood. It would probably be expensive and frustrating.

While i realize i am not paying *that* much in the large scheme of things compared to their larger customers, the problem for Felder is that it's completely obvious - the fact that they don't care about me shows through in every aspect. They also don't make this clear upfront.

Meanwhile, plenty of other companies either don't use this kind of support model or are at least better enough at hiding it.

Biesse service has been great over the last 14 years. Even better is that we have rarely needed it, most of our issues have been user induced software type things. I have a rover s Ft and it runs day in and day out with no issues. I will say that the response time has gotten a little longer in the last 2 years with the volume of machines they have sold.

I think Felder is angled towards the high end hobbyist. Everything I've experienced from them has been very underwhelming.

I have a Felder planer, not worth the price of entry.

Felder isn't building their own routers, I'd be curious who is. A local guy who owns a shop just ordered one. He was told by Felder parts could take a couple of weeks. That's a bloody eternity. Plus there's NOBODY Felder specific in my area to work on the thing.

Weeke, Andi, Biesse are all pretty instantaneous from what I understand on part shipping.

We have a 1 year old Felder planer that we bought new. It refuses to start occasionally.
Felder service has NO idea why, and they blame all sorts of electrical gremlins in our shop. I've paid for 2 different (very experienced) industrial electricians to check out our supply and they say there are no problems. We have no problems with any other machines in our shop, nor have we in the past.The obvious conclusion is that there is a problem internally with this machine.
I'll say this - I would never consider another machine from this company. Planers are not new technology - this is inexcusable.
