Drill block grease
8/2/22
I realized that I don't think we've ever greased our drill block. So I ponied up for the expensive Kluber grease, but realized I don't know how much to put in there? I remember a comment by the installer way back when we bought it to be careful as you can actually over pack it? Is there a release to let some of the old grease out?
If it matters, it's a SCM Pratix with a 7 drill positions

Should be something in the maintenance section of the manual.
My Biesse Arrow says 8 grams (3 or 4 pumps) per month.

Is this the grease recommended by SCM? The cost is irrelevant to it's performance in your gearbox. Not all greases are compatible with each other and depending on what grease the drill block was originally packed with you could damage the drill block by mixing incompatible greases.

Yeah a tube of Kluber is on a par with a tube of cold sore ointment.
Run the drill head in MDI. It'll be awkward but pump grease while its running. You should hear it get sweeter.

Zak got in touch and walked me through the process. Great resource, that guy.
Yes, we used the spec'd grease from the machine.
How do you run the drills in MDI?!? Never done that one before. We hooked a chuck drill onto an old bit and spun it at slow speed while we pumped.
