Sr. Estimator

Senior Estimators report directly to the Director of Project Controls. The Estimator will be responsible for estimating commercial construction projects, which includes subcontractor scope definition activities. They will also be responsible for providing accurate estimates in order to provide our clients the ability to make well-informed financial decisions.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Estimator operates in the lead role for the estimating team. This person is responsible for the overall coordination of all estimating assignments. The goal is to maintain and manage a team to achieve project goals. Many project goals are specific to the individual project but always include promoting opportunities for repeat business and creating highly favorable references through the effective coordination, administration, and communication of the delivery of the program management process.
Responsibilities
Perform quantity surveys and quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
Responsible for encouraging the development and skill level of the estimating staff.
Responsible for maintaining positive client relationships.
Obtain material and equipment quotes from suppliers and contractors.
Assists in marketing for the team.
Responsible for creating historical cost data and updating current historical cost data and sets a company standard in collecting cost data on all completed estimating projects and an annual costing report.
Perform miscellaneous other job-related duties as assigned, which may include value engineering, proposal reviews and negotiations.
Role Specific Skills
Knowledge of and proficiency in electrical systems.
Familiarity with NECA Productivity standards.
Effective oral and written communication skills and strong organizational estimating skills.

Strong desire to learn or expand upon new methods and software.

Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Proficient in estimating tools such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Accubid, RS Means Online, PM Web, Procore, MS Teams, Bluebeam, BOX, and Smartsheet.
Ability to become proficient using Company directed programs and web-based software.
Education / Experience
Four-year Bachelors Degree in a related field Construction Management or Electrical Engineering or combination of experience and on the job learning.
Ten (10) years of experience is required in the estimating field or in a related area, which may include construction field engineering, contracting, claims and other industries relating to estimating.
At least three (2) years of experience with a Contractor during the construction phase of a project is strongly desired.
Strong working knowledge of building systems/components and technology Experience with large infrastructure and/or aviation projects highly desired.
