Job Description:
Leads Companys engineering and drafting department, activities and personnel.
Responsible for scheduling the drafting of company shop drawings and managing personnel to meet that schedule.
Responsible for engineering of company millwork assemblies, incorporating intent of architectural drawings and specifications with input from company estimating, project management, field operations and production personnel to produce detailed millwork shop drawings that will lead to the companys high quality architectural millwork.
Responsible for hiring and developing drafting department personnel.
Reports to company president.
Specific Responsibilities:
Work with estimating and project management to establish shop drawings schedule.
Establish and maintain work phases and material codes for each project.
Review estimate and architectural drawings and specifications to prepare drafting personnel for engineering issues specific to each shop drawing.
Manage drafting personnel in the timely and thorough production of shop drawings.
Maintain consistency of company shop drawings and engineering standards.
Research new products and materials as required for specific projects.
Facilitate department communication with project management and production personnel.
Travel to project sites and supplier sites as necessary.
Correspond with clients/architects as required.
Provide pro-active communication of project issues with company management
Successful candidate will have extensive experience with architectural woodworking, both in the shop and in the office; will have strong knowledge of machinery and software (AutoCAD, etc); will have obsessive attention to detail; will enjoy challenging work; and will be a team player with excellent communication skills.
