This table is made of birdseye maple, cherry, and walnut. It was a real challenge to make. (aren’t they all?) I made a form for the curved panel and used a vacuum press to glue the veneer to a substrate of 1/8” MDF over 3/8” bending ply. The walnut spacers don’t penetrate the legs. I drilled through them and countersunk and chiseled the square shape of the spacer on the outside of the legs. I then inset an endgrain square of walnut to make it look like it went all the way through. Clear as mud? You can see more of my work at my website, alancarterstudio.com.
