Bowed Front Entertainment Center

This is a piece that I built from a bar napkin sketch that a guy wanted built. I wanted some constructive critism on the project so I can do better on the next as well as what the piece should of been priced at. The radius crown was done on the cnc and is solid wood. The shelves are poplar and the uprights berch plywood. The finish was oil stain and poly topcoat. Thanks for any input.

Not sure why the color looks so much different must be the light.

It's the difference between how you see the job and how the customer does!I like the chocolate colour. very smart. The bow front's doing it for me. Helps soften an otherwise large piece by segmentising the sections into separate but blended parts. Woo... getting too technical now!

Mark,
Nice piece.
It bothers me a bit that the arch over the center section is Gothic when all others are circular. I would also rather see the doors on the two outside sections square top to match the curved doors. With arches over the shelves there is no need for arches in the doors.

Mark,
I've been doing this as a one man artisan for 28 years. I sell from coast to coast, so here you go. The workmanship looks super, but your design is inconsistant. Kerry is acurate that the style choices are random. The piece would look so much better with a consistant circular flow and the lower doors should also flow consistant. I might have raised the panels for a higher end look and been more consistant in material choice. Staining paint grade material is always a last resort. That said, we each develope our craft at our own rate and as my mentor said to me long ago, " We only stop growing our talents when we die". The work is beautiful and your still is obvious. So you know, with a slight upgrade in material choices, and a higher end finish to tone out the stain blemishes, I would have no problem charging a client 7,500 to 10,000 for a similar piece. Good Luck.

First off, no fault of yours but that monkey is a huge turn-off. I agree with the other comments - I love the circular arches and don't care for the ceneter arch too much. Would have liked to see the circular curve on the two lower center doors. I love the finish and color. Both are fantastic. I love the shelf thicknesses and the two cubbies under the TV that hold the electronics. I also love the two open shelves on the sides. Overall I'd give you a 9, even with the monkey.

I really appriciate everyones input on this piece and I will remember on the next to stay with one style. The customer had a thing for arches so I told him I would try to get one in the center and still get it under ceiling hieght. Again thanks for the comments.

Nice piece, I would have like the 'See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil' monkey format. Your shop has flourescent lights like mine. I always have to take things outside to guage color.

Good basic design. Same comments as to changes. Adding, put down that brush and spray a modern finish. You would recoup your time learning on the first project in the time saved not fooling with poly.

I assume this isn't something we can purchase at a store? If you built one for us what is the cost? Also, what size television fits in this one?
Thank you
