Walnut trestle table with hand hewn edges. Base is white oak with a walnut stain.
The top came from a 10" x 10" hand hewn barn beam. It measures 42" x 102" x 1.75". I kept the hand hewn edges to show the wood's true age. It is top coated with three coats of General Finishes satin polyurethane, except for these long edges.....I left those alone. The white look on the bare edges is from barn lime - it looks awesome next the dark walnut top. There were a few square nail holes and knots which I filled in with the West System epoxy prior to finishing.
Base is white oak, wood taken from an old barn. I stained them a dark brown walnut color and again used General Finishes polyurethane. I purposely used a dark stain so the focus is walnut top, not the base.
I do look forward to your feedback. One question I have is what would you charge for something like this? Thanks! BHasmer
