Wood Resistant To Salt Water

04/20/2013

From original questioner:

Hi All

Not sure where to ask this so:

I want to make some replacement top rails for my above ground pool but don't know what type of wood to use. I use salt water in the pool.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Teak, Ipe ?

Actually I used PVC

Teak and Ipe are great solutions. However you are building this next to a salt water pool not on the ocean.

You can save a lot by going with Sapele or African Mahogany. Either would look quite elegant.

Wood+exterior= upkeep or graying or both
I'd use the plastic decking

I ended up using plastic decking. Worked great!
