JOS2100 Sawmill Manager - IA
Starting base salary: $75-120K

Summary
The Mill Manager will oversee and manage production schedules, inventory, and employees while ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, documentation, inventory, communication, and reporting rules, regulations, and standards. This position reoprts to the Operations Manager

Responsibilities
-Maintains knowledge of processes and equipment.
-Hires, trains, and manages site production employees.
-Oversee sawing instructions and run reports as needed.
-Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift.
-Prepares work schedules and assignments to ensure efficient operations.
-Responsible for approving all maintenance and hot work in the facility.
-Works cooperatively with coworkers in a professional and respectful manner.
-Monitor, inform, and provide directions to improve quality, productivity and efficiency issues.
-Conduct regular performance reviews that include setting expectations for continuous improvement.
-Make sure all employees are working safely and using all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
-Provides cross-training opportunities for all team members based upon ability and willingness to learn new operations.
-Ensure safe working environment and behaviors of teammates compliant with all laws, rules, regulations, and insurance standards.
-Investigates issues. Handles coaching, discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
-Present and archive production data monthly to maintain history of production on all lines via the Inventory Management Program.
-Represent company as needed through travel to (and participation in) trade shows, conventions, associations meetings, community events, etc.
-Accumulate and communicate run reports to ensure sales and purchasing are aware of financial impact of quality of runs (including good or bad runs).
-Produce and communicate instructions to mill staff on what will be produced by using mill values for breakeven analysis at machine centers and inspection.
-Show willingness and ability to perform work duties through entire operations including board piling, loading trucks, grading lumber, filling out paperwork, etc.
-Grow and develop staff members to fully understand and maximize teammate capabilities through evaluation, mentoring, coaching, training, cross-training, etc.
-Coordinate inventory levels with sales, procurement, and transportation so that inventory (including grade, species and length) matches upcoming customer and scheduled demand.
-Directs and helps team with equipment issues, notifies maintenance staff or leadership of equipment problems requiring greater expertise. Works with outside vendors to fix issues that cannot be fixed internally.
-Provide employee feedback (both constructive and positive) to reinforce proper behaviors. Provide spontaneous praise for positive behaviors when they occur to build morale, camaraderie, and further positive behaviors.

Requirements
-Associates degree in related field, or equivalent industry work experience required, Bachelor's degree in Management, Business or related field preferred.
-Has extensive knowledge of production flow and possesses the ability to adjust production staff as required to ensure workflow is efficient.
-Thorough understanding of machinery, raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management and lean principles.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs.
-Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
-Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery.
-Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-At least three years of supervisory experience
-Previous experience managing 15 people
-Spanish speaking is a plus!
-NHLA is a BIG Plus!
-Punctuality is key!
