Job summary:
This position is responsible for managing the day to day activities for the engineering department, oversees all software integration, works closely with Cut-Bill Manager, Plant Manager, Field Manager & Operations team to ensure the product design meets design intent, estimated cost, & maximizes shop & field efficiencies, training of lead & support engineers, implements standards & continuous process improvements that advance engineering’s ability to manage the highest quality control that meet contractual schedules.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Continuously evaluate processes, software platforms, and implement solutions that will increase accuracy and capacity, while reducing labor costs.
Continuously improve the quality of submittal drawings and establish standards to increase efficiency of submittals, RTCB or RTV.
Support and promote a cohesive flow of information between the Engineering and Manufacturing departments
Approve all time off for engineering resources and ensure the department operates productively to maintain construction schedules.
Act in the capacity of a lead engineer when required.
Work with ERP team to implement Shop PAK into the engineering & material request process.
Review all internal or external submittal drawings with lead engineers & operations prior to submittal.
Work with Cut Bill manager to implement a more efficient process that meets the shop requirements, increases accuracy, & reduces the RTS lead times.
Assume all managerial responsibilities regarding hiring, termination, performance reviews, expense reports, & promotions.
Work with field manager to ensure product design is efficient & cost conscious with regards to offload & installation.
Ensure the casework manufacturing process & software is efficient, flexible, & cost effective.
Develop, maintain, & implement a defined schedule & clear process for outsourcing submittals & RTV drawings to insure they are submitted correctly and on time.
Maintain a capacity scheduling tool that will identify accurate/data driven capacity constraints and availability in the Engineering and Cut-Bill departments
Review all Material Request costs with estimated budgets to ensure departments are cost conscience & a profit center.
Manage the departmental annual budget to the realistic targets provided.
Implement strategies by identifying early opportunities for screen to machine and/or direct RTS.
Work with Operations Team to ensure all manufacturing departments are consistently at 90% capacity.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma.
3 years using AutoCAD in the architectural millwork field.
Experience with Microvellum Toolbox is preferred.
Millwork production experience is preferred.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet software.
Knowledgeable in architectural millwork and casework production methods and fabrication techniques.
Experienced with CNC manufacturing.
