Description
Hillcraft is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Project Manager to oversee and manage various construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes. This role requires proficiency in project coordination, scheduling, and estimating, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Responsibilities
Manage 5-10 projects concurrently, with a typical annual volume of $1,500,000 – $2,500,000.
Determine internal milestone dates and monitor progress daily using Project Status Checklists.
Coordinate and oversee shop drawing process and submittals. Provide engineering assistance and value-engineering solutions to construction and material challenges.
Coordinate and monitor BOM and purchasing processes, paying special attention to long-lead time materials that must be expedited ahead of other materials. Generate BOM for small projects and/or Change Orders.
Maintain regular contact with client concerning construction schedule and delivery phasing, respond to all client communications promptly (phone calls within 2 hours, email same day).
Advise your Supervisor and Team Members of major changes to timelines and scope.
Visit job sites as necessary to provide a high degree of customer service. Schedule field measurements by Installer, if not self-performing.
Schedule work order release dates on Production Forecast, and update all projects weekly.
Create Work Order using MS Word template for Manual Process items not processed via Microvellum.
Conduct Production Review with Production Team Leader and others as necessary.
Monitor project progress during production, for conformance to plans and specs, and quality standards.
Proactively manage and control project costs:
o Monitor actual vs. estimated material and labor costs.
o Respond to and process in a timely fashion, all; Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Change Orders (CO’s), Construction Bulletin (CB’s), etc. Organize all in Project File, and track on Invoicing Spreadsheet. Price Change Orders with assistance of the Estimating department.
o Monitor project scope, and aggressively seek Change Orders prior to scope changes.
o Monitor cash flow and schedule invoices with the Office Manager in timely fashion, as phases deliver.
o Minimize errors and re-work, and review all occurrences exceeding $500 with the General Manager.
o Schedule BOM for restocking, and ensure that leftover materials are returned for credit.
Coordinate deliveries with the Shipping Manager.
Coordinate HC installations with the Installation Manager and/or Lead Installer.
Close out project promptly and confirm all deliverables are on site and all invoicing is submitted. Consolidate drawings, files, samples etc, and move to designated physical and digital storage areas.
Develop positive business relationships to help you and HOW to grow and prosper.
Experience
(3) years experience successfully managing Architectural Casework projects up to $500,000.00.
(3) years of AutoCAD experience, Microvellum experience is a big plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel; Word; Outlook.
Proven track record delivering large projects on time and on budget, with minimal errors. References required.
Solid working knowledge of hardwoods, veneers, fabrication, engineering, and AWI Quality Standards.
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail, organization, and quality.
Superior written and verbal communication skills with urgency to respond to clients.
Able to work with minimal supervision and able to prioritize own workload.
Familiarity with casework estimating is a plus.
Occasional job site travel is required.
