POSITION TITLE: V.P of Manufacturing (LEAN a must)
REPORTS TO: President
LOCATION: Upper Midwest
SALARY: 90-150K, excellent benefits, 401K, Vacation, holiday, etc.

PURPOSE

The Vice President of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate as a member of the Leadership Team in planning, developing, formulating, and executing short- and long-range operating plans, policies, programs
• Coordinate the development and implementation of the annual manufacturing budget and operating plan so that it coincides with the Sales plan, raw material plan and staffing plan.
• Establish and distribute the goals and metrics of the plan within each area and monitor throughout the year adjusting as necessary that reflect any changing conditions throughout the year
• Lead the Manufacturing capital budgeting process in identifying and prioritizing projects that provide cost savings and return as well as those capital projects that require repair or replacement.
• Support the EHS function to ensure compliance reporting as well as maintaining good working relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
• Partner with the different operational areas to establish and maintain quality standards that meet both internal and external needs of the organization.
• Partner and work directly with HR and Site managers in assessing current and future talent needs and succession planning. This includes developing the plans and strategies to attract, train, transition, and retain talent at each site.
• Partner with HR and local site managers in negotiating union labor agreements, settling of grievances, and managing of labor relations with the union.
• Establish, monitor, and provide feedback on key objectives and goals for direct reports. This includes challenging managers in identifying ways to continuously improve their areas in terms of people, products, and processes.
• Partner with other leaders within the organization to develop and maintain a method of regular communication regarding company objectives, changes, areas of concern or opportunity throughout all levels of the organization.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with individuals and larger groups internally and externally
• Ability to effectively communicate to all employees the Organizational Vision and Operational action plan and goals to achieve that Vision
• Being Objective – dealing with facts versus personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations
• Collaborative – being able to build and sustain effective and productive working relationships among team members
• Strong understanding in the areas of Engineering and Business financials and costing
• Hands on practical experience in Lean Mfg. and Continuous Improvement in a team environment
• Staying abreast in the knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, regulations and guidelines related to the business
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products as well as other internal or external computer related software and programs
• Patience and willingness to adapt to internal and external changes that will occur
• Proven record of developing next generation of functional leadership


Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field strongly preferred; may consider experience in lieu of education.
• At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required
• (LEAN a must)
• Significant experience in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement preferred.
• Must come from Primary Manufacturing (Hardwoods, Dry Kiln, Chop Saw, Profile, Finger joint, etc.)
