Summary:
Our Estimator will be responsible for developing competitive proposals and budgets for existing and new customers in commercial markets. Primary focus will be assembling proposals for millwork and furniture elements by interpreting client provided floor plans, preforming take-off, inputting data and maintaining quoting templates, assembling proposals.
Strong organization and communication skills are necessary when communicating with internal sales team and external stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities:
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Develop options and recommend best value solution based on cost, engineering, quality or availability of materials.
Establish and maintain positive relationships and ethical practices with Owners, consultants, architects, and sales team.
Track and assist operations with awarded contracts and projects as required may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring materials, etc.
Develop complete professional proposals including all required information.
Develop complete conceptual proposals to support business development and client maintenance.
Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and excel.
Candidates must have a strong understanding of conceptual estimating, estimating techniques, and cost control.
Ability to prepare proposals with minimal supervision.
Must be comfortable working in teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposals clarifications with Owners and subcontractors.
Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
A Bachelors degree in Construction Management or engineering discipline is preferred
Candidates must have 2+ years estimating experience
Essential Functions
Read and interpret drawings and project specifications
Survey/Quantify materials/assemblies from drawings
Organize quantity takeoffs
Review contract scopes and associated dollar figures
Assist with subcontractor recommendations and buyout
Assist with project handoff and kickoff meetings
Prepare proposal letters, qualification and clarification sheets
Responsible for timely and complete bid submission and management of all required bid submission requirements.
Arrange for document reproduction/distribution
Develop knowledge of construction pricing
