Position Summary
The Lead Woodworker is responsible for crafting high-quality custom wood pieces to precise specifications. This role requires exceptional craftsmanship, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. The Lead Woodworker manages projects from conception to completion, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and superior craftsmanship.
Essential Functions
Oversee projects from initiation to final product completion.
Assign and coordinate tasks for woodworkers and mill shop assistants.
Fabricate wood products according to customer specifications and company standards.
Set up and operate woodworking machinery to cut, shape, assemble, and finish raw materials for custom projects, including doors, windows, cabinets, flooring, molding, and trim.
Safely handle and maneuver heavy wood boards and plywood sheets.
Operate essential woodworking equipment, such as saws, jointers, planers, shapers, and sanders.
Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions to determine the best construction methods.
Verify measurements and refine parts using hand tools such as planes, chisels, and rasps to achieve precision.
Assemble components using fasteners, adhesives, and sanding techniques for a flawless finish.
Craft unique, custom-designed pieces and manage the full woodworking cycle from raw material to finished product.
Exercise independent judgment in planning and executing woodworking assignments.
Adhere to strict safety protocols, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Operate pneumatic tools, routers, table saws, and specialty machinery with precision and care.
Select appropriate materials for each task and ensure efficient usage.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
Collaborate effectively within a team production setting.
Meet deadlines while ensuring exceptional quality standards.
Perform routine maintenance on woodworking machines and tools.
Complete additional duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
3-5 years of experience in a professional woodworking or mill shop environment.
Proficiency in hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret architectural shop drawings accurately.

Preferred Experience
Background in carpentry, woodworking, or construction.
Prior experience in assembly work.
5-10 years in a manufacturing or mill shop setting.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Exposure to airborne particles, dust, noise, and moving machinery.
Alternating periods of standing, walking, and sitting for extended durations.
Occasionally lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
Frequent use of push/pull force while operating equipment or handling materials.
Occasional need to climb stairs or use step stools.
Occasional bending, stooping, and balancing as needed.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, Non-Exempt.
Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
