Description
Studio Practice (SP) is a high-end architectural millwork and fabrication shop specializing in luxury residential and premium retail interiors. We are looking for an experienced Veneer Lead to take ownership of our veneer operations and help elevate the quality and consistency of our work.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who truly understands wood veneer — not just how to process it, but how to select, lay out, and execute it at a high level.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all veneer department operations
• Veneer pressing (cold and vacuum press experience preferred)
• Splicing and hand taping veneers
• Selection and layout for sequence matching and grain continuity
• Gluing and prepping substrates
• Thickness sanding and final surface prep
• Resawing thick-cut veneers
• Quality control of veneer panels before fabrication
• Maintain organization of veneer inventory and flitches
• Work closely with drafting and production teams to execute design intent
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years experience in veneer work
• Strong understanding of wood species, grain matching, and layup techniques
• Ability to read shop drawings and execute precise layouts
• Experience in a custom millwork environment preferred
• Detail-oriented with high quality standards
• Ability to manage workflow and maintain production schedules
