Key Responsibilities
• Interpret architectural plans, elevations, sections, sketches, and specifications to develop detailed shop drawings for custom millwork, including but not limited to casework, paneling, fixtures, trim, and other intricate wood elements.
• Create and revise 2D/3D technical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD experience required; familiarity with Microvellum, Mozaik, Inventor, Cabinet Vision, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar millwork-specific tools is a plus).
• Ensure drawings meet design intent, manufacturing standards, material specifications, joinery details, and quality requirements for precise fabrication and installation.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, designers, installation teams, and our in-house production team to resolve questions, incorporate feedback, and maintain project schedules.
• Produce submittal packages, coordinate with other trades, and support value engineering when needed.
• Maintain organized drawing files and documentation throughout project lifecycles.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of all drafting and submittal processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
• 10+ years of professional experience as an Architectural Millwork Drafter or similar role in a custom millwork, cabinetry, or architectural woodworking shop.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with Microvellum, Mozaik, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision, Inventor, Revit, or other parametric millwork design software preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of custom millwork construction techniques, woodworking materials (solid woods, veneers, laminates), hardware, finishes, and joinery methods.
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills to ensure drawings are fabrication-ready and error-free.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners (architects, general contractors).
• Experience with hospitality/restaurant projects or high-end commercial custom woodwork is highly desirable.
• Self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
What We Offer
• Opportunity to work on prestigious, highly customized projects for notable clients in the hospitality sector across the U.S.
• Collaborative, small-business environment with skilled Montana craftsmen who take pride in exceptional quality.
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
• Benefits package (health insurance, 401K profit sharing program, moving expenses, paid time off — details provided upon interview).
• Inspiring location in Columbia Falls, Montana, with easy access to Glacier National Park and outdoor recreation.
