This is an ideal position for someone that is retired but wants to stay active in the industry or is a consultant and wants to expand their services. You set your schedule and decide which projects you want to accept.

This independent contractor role involves conducting impartial, comprehensive inspections of architectural millwork at manufacturing facilities and job sites. Inspections may be performed via video or in person dependent upon project. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce timely, detailed reports and communicate effectively with woodworking firms, design professionals, owner representatives, QCP staff, and fellow inspectors. Work is performed remotely with some travel required. As an independent contractor you determine your schedule and workload.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the architectural woodwork industry, including project and/or production management.
• Experience in the fabrication and/or installation of products consisting of one or more of the following: wood veneer/solid wood, high-pressure decorative laminate (HPDL), and composite material.
• Strong familiarity with the Architectural Woodwork Standards and the QCP program, with a commitment to ongoing learning.
• No current affiliation with an active woodwork manufacturing, finishing, or installation company.
• Reliable computer and internet connection capable of supporting business software and video conferencing.
• Ability to take and annotate technical photographs.
• Proficiency with computers, iPads, and video platforms such as FaceTime and Microsoft Teams.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass open-book, web-based exams on AWI Standards and QCP Policies.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to travel for inspections if needed.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently.
• Professional demeanor with integrity and courtesy.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and walk extended distances on construction sites.
• Ability to kneel frequently on concrete floors and reach into cabinetry.

Additional Information:
This is not a full-time position. As an independent contractor, you determine which projects you will inspect. All QCP inspection-related expenses are reimbursed, and representatives are paid on a negotiated rate for services rendered.
