Description
The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) is seeking an experienced architectural woodworking professional to support the Quality Certification Program (QCP). This role is ideal for someone who understands how woodwork shops operate, from estimating and production to project management and installation and who values quality, standards, and accountability in the industry.
The QCP Licensing Coordinator manages the AWI Quality Certification Programs licensing process. This position works directly with woodworking firms pursuing or maintaining QCP licensing, guiding them through the licensing process, reviewing shop documentation, conducting inspections, and supporting compliance with AWI Standards. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment with regular interaction with woodworking shops and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Guide QCP applicants through the licensing process.
Maintain and update applicant files in the QCP database.
Review shop drawings and perform required inspections for licensing.
Approve QCP licensees upon successful completion of requirements.
Monitor active licenses and follow up on additional testing requirements, standards compliance, or liaison changes
Maintain Structural Performance records and audit schedule
Conduct Structural Performance Test Report audits.
Conduct or assist with Casework Structural Performance Testing at the AWI National Testing Center as required.
Support Director of Inspections when needed.
Implement program changes as directed by the AWI Vice President of Compliance.
Assist with AWI/QCP training and marketing efforts (webinars, presentations, trade shows).
Attend AWI and QCP meetings as required.
Education:
College degree (preferred in woodworking, architecture, or business administration/management) and 5+ years of experience in the woodwork industry (engineering, estimating, production, or project management).
In lieu of college degree, 10+ years of direct experience in the woodwork industry to include time in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Knowledge of architectural woodworking fabrication and installation
Understanding of architectural woodworking firms and construction subcontractor relationships in commercial construction
Familiarity with AWI Standards.
Professional, ethical, and consistent in applying published program requirements
Strong communication and customer service skills with ability to work directly with shop owners, managers, general contractors, design professionals, and project teams.
Comfortable with public speaking
