Shop Supervisor/ Manager
Eastern Michigan
Salary: 80-90K+, benefits, relocation if needed, etc.
Summary:
Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in the manufacturing of residential Cabinetry, and Millwork. All activities including coordinating and assigning work to meet or exceed output and productivity goals in accordance with safety, cost, quality, and quantity specifications. This is a hands-on position that leads by example and maintains a consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Experience maintaining Equipment not limited to CNC, Saw, Dowler, Edge bander
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
- Maintain compliance to all production schedule requirements
- Maintain optimal level of quality for all production activities
- Provide on-the-job skills and quality standards training to both new and seasoned employees to ensure that learning and self-development opportunities exist for production staff.
- Meet with teams and lead workers to inform them of daily, weekly, monthly production goals. Encourage questions and suggestions, provide feedback on accomplishments, and inform the teams of upcoming challenges to keep employees involved and motivated in accomplishing goals.
- Recommend and implements methods to improve production, optimize product quality, and minimize overall expense. Understand and use Lean Manufacturing methods to improve workflow and productivity.
- Directs and is responsible for the training of new employees in production.
- Ensure compliance to all company policies and regulations and administer everyday activities of all plant personnel.
-Collaborate with plant manager to recommend all operational improvements to processes and facilitate reduction in cost and ensure efficiency of all programs and adhere to all safety programs.
- Manage all communication with employees and plant manager and ensure optimal utilization of all analytical tools.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of proven experience in Cabinetry/Casework, Architectural Millwork/Woodwork, etc., as a Manufacturing Facility Supervisor / Foreman/ or Manager.
- Supervisory experience performing and coordinating manufacturing activities.
- Ability to maintain control of a fast pace, environment
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to communicate and influence members of the workforce to produce desired results.
- Understanding of manufacturing process
- Strong leadership skills
- Thorough knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to coach and train employees.
- Ability to handle safety/performance-related corrective actions
- Ability to schedule assigned labor based on production requirements and handle multiple tasks effectively
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
