Description
Cabinet Maker/Shop Manager:
Combines expert-level woodworking with operational leadership, overseeing daily production, staff, and safety while crafting custom cabinetry. They manage project workflows from blueprint review to installation, ensure quality control, maintain machinery, and handle inventory to meet client deadlines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
• Shop Management & Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule shop staff and installers to ensure efficient, safe operations.
• Production Oversight: Oversee fabrication, assembly, and finishing to ensure high-quality custom cabinetry.
• Technical Execution: Read blueprints, perform accurate measurements, and operate woodworking machinery (table saws, sanders, CNC).
• Material & Inventory Control: Select materials, manage inventory levels, and order supplies while managing costs.
• Quality Assurance & Safety: Enforce OSHA standards and conduct final inspections on all products to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Client & Project Coordination: Collaborate with designers, contractors, and clients to meet project deadlines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Experience: Extensive experience in custom cabinetry, woodworking, or furniture making.
• Technical Skill: Proficiency in using, maintaining, and troubleshooting woodworking tools and machinery.
• Leadership: Strong team management and communication skills to lead a production team.
• Mathematics & Literacy: Ability to interpret detailed blueprints and perform precise mathematical calculations for measurements.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Common Qualifications
• Previous experience as a lead cabinet maker, foreman, or production manager.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software may be required for some positions.
