Description
R.A. Colby, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cabinet Shop Manager to lead a specialized team building custom pipe organs, consoles and architectural casework. This role requires a strong background in high-end cabinet or furniture making, proven leadership ability, and a passion for craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will bring structure, efficiency, and mentorship to a small production environment while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily operations of a small 6-8 man specialty woodworking shop.
Establish and improve workflow processes to maximize efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure efficient and practical production methods.
Monitor project schedules, labor hours, and shop performance, tracking projected versus actual production times.
Recruit, train, mentor, and develop shop personnel as needed.
Foster a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Ensure all work meets the companys standards for precision, quality, and finish.
Requirements
Proven experience in high-quality cabinetmaking, furniture making, or architectural woodworking.
Experience in construction and installation engineering to assist in design development
Demonstrated leadership experience managing or supervising a woodworking or production team.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation Expectations
The successful candidate can expect compensation between $80,000 and $100,000 depending on qualifications.
