Architectural Millwork Engineer / CNC Production Engineer

Full-Time or Contract / Part-Time (10–20 Hours per Week)
Glenmore Contracting is a custom architectural millwork and cabinetry shop located in Pearl River, NY. We manufacture high-end residential and commercial millwork for projects throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.
We are looking for an experienced Architectural Millwork Engineer / Production Engineer who can independently take a project from architectural/design information through engineering and into production.
This is not simply a drafting position or CNC operator position.
We need someone with a strong understanding of how custom cabinetry and architectural millwork is actually constructed and manufactured.
The Role
You should be able to receive:
* Architectural and interior design drawings
* Field dimensions
* Designer sketches and project notes
* Appliance and fixture specifications
* Hardware specifications
* Material and finish information
* Glenmore construction standards
From that information, you should be able to independently engineer the millwork into a complete, buildable production package.
Responsibilities would include:
* Reviewing architectural and design drawings
* Engineering cabinet and millwork construction
* Developing cabinet assemblies and custom details
* Determining fillers, scribes, reveals, finished ends, toe kicks, panels and other construction details
* Integrating appliances, fixtures and hardware
* Identifying missing dimensions, conflicts and RFIs before production
* Developing projects in Mozaik
* Producing or coordinating shop drawings
* Creating production-ready cabinet information
* Material and hardware takeoffs
* Cut lists and production information
* CNC machining preparation
* Understanding drilling, dados, pockets, nesting, grain direction, edge treatment and tooling requirements
* Coordinating with the shop and CNC operator
* Managing revisions through final production release
Our Current Software & Equipment
Our engineering and production workflow currently includes:
* Mozaik
* AutoCAD
* SketchUp / Layout
* Bluebeam Revu
* Biesse Rover K 1531 CNC
* B_SOLID
* Laguna SmartShop 2 CNC
* VCarve Pro
Direct experience with Mozaik and Biesse/B_SOLID is preferred but not mandatory.
We are also interested in experienced architectural millwork engineers coming from Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, iX/WoodCAD-CAM, TopSolid or similar manufacturing systems.
For the right person, learning our specific software is much less important than having a strong understanding of millwork engineering, cabinet construction and manufacturing.
Who We’re Looking For
The right person should have substantial experience with custom cabinetry and/or architectural millwork and should be comfortable making engineering and construction decisions independently.
You should be able to look at an architectural drawing and determine how the millwork needs to be constructed—not simply wait for someone else to engineer the cabinets before you draw or program them.
Just as importantly, you should recognize when information is missing or conflicting and raise the appropriate questions rather than making assumptions that create problems in production or installation.
Experience working directly with cabinet shops, CNC machinery, fabrication and installation is highly desirable.
Our projects include high-end residential kitchens, built-ins, vanities, closets, wall paneling, custom architectural millwork and commercial millwork.

* Hybrid arrangements for the right candidate
* Experienced remote/contract engineers for approximately 10–20 hours per week
For a full-time position, we are particularly interested in candidates within commuting distance of Rockland County, Bergen County, Passaic County, Westchester County and the surrounding NY/NJ area.
Paid Technical Test
Before making a long-term commitment, we would like qualified candidates to complete a paid technical test using one of our previously completed projects.
The purpose is to see how you approach the engineering, identify missing information, make construction decisions and develop the project toward production.
