Shop Foreman – Architectural Millwork
Fitchburg, Massachusetts | Full-Time | On-Site
About Us
Westminster Millwork is a full-service architectural millwork and finish carpentry company that has been building
in Central Massachusetts since 1989. From our 58,000 sq ft facility in Fitchburg, our team of 35 produces
commercial casework, custom cabinetry, countertops, doors, frames and hardware for hospitals, schools,
banks, government and institutional facilities, hotels, and multiunit housing across New England. We're looking
for a hands-on Shop Foreman to lead our production floor and help us keep growing.
Our Shop
• Two CNC routers – Multicam and Biesse Rover S
• Two edge banders, dowel inserter, and sliding beam saws
• 3,500 sq ft spray booth
• Plastic laminate and thermally fused (TFL) casework, frameless and solid wood custom cabinets, solid
surface / acrylic / laminate countertops
• Metal fabrication area (Westminster MetalWorks)
The Role
The Shop Foreman runs day-to-day production – turning approved shop drawings into finished, on-time, quality
product. You'll lead the shop crew, schedule work across multiple jobs at once, and work closely with
ownership, our drafting department, and field installation crews.
Responsibilities
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize shop production across multiple commercial and multiunit jobs to meet install
dates
• Lead, assign, and supervise shop personnel; train and develop the crew
• Review shop drawings and cut lists; coordinate with drafting on questions and revisions before parts are cut
• Oversee CNC nesting/cutting, edge banding, assembly, countertop fabrication, and finishing
• Enforce quality control at every stage – nothing ships that doesn't meet AWI-level standards
• Track material needs; coordinate sheet goods, laminate, hardware, and finish orders to avoid production
delays
• Coordinate packaging, labeling, and deliveries with field installation crews
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop; enforce OSHA and dust/finishing safety practices
• Oversee routine equipment maintenance and flag repair needs early
• Look for ways to improve workflow and throughput, including drawing-to-CNC processes
Requirements
• 5+ years of commercial casework or architectural millwork shop experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or
supervisory role
• Strong ability to read architectural and shop drawings
• Hands-on knowledge of 32mm/frameless construction, plastic laminate, TFL, and solid wood work
• Working knowledge of CNC router production and edge banding
• Organized, dependable, and able to juggle multiple jobs and deadlines
• Clear communicator who can lead a crew and keep the office informed
Nice to Have
• Experience with Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, Microvellum, or similar design-to-CNC software
• Familiarity with AWI Architectural Woodwork Standards
• Solid surface fabrication and spray finishing experience
• Experience with high-volume multiunit housing production
What We Offer
• Competitive pay based on experience
• Steady, year-round work with a 35+ year established company
• Well-equipped, modern production facility
• Direct line to ownership and a real voice in how the shop runs
