I'm trying to get my pictures that were borrowed from my friends. I have better pictures than what I posted. We built 34 of them for this house. You know how friends are when they borrow things?
The shutters pivot like you would expect a normal shutter to do but there is no hardware involved. The serpentine part that you see at the jamb consists of two pieces to form a solid wood rack & pinion motion. Each shutter is 1" thick cypress by 5" wide and approx. 33" in length. So the triple window gives me a 7 foot view of the Atlantic Ocean. The entire north end of this house approx 95 feet faces the ocean. I was so afraid that all the horizontal lines of all of those shutters would ruin the view but in reality it gives a really nice tropical feel and with the shutters at full horizontal it gives plenty of view. In this case they are million dollar views. It came out really nice and the best part is that since these pictures were taken the house has been finished. Halleluiah!
