Cherry plywood carcass with solid top, face and base. First time using raised panels and dovetails. This was a good skill building project for me.

Front view. drawers hold 16 DVD's each.
Drawer details. Yes, next time I'll use some glue-sizing on the endgrains. Also remember to allow for panel height so I don't hide my dovetails.
Top View. Scraped the top flat and then sanded by hand. I think with the time and materials I have into this project, I could have bought a helicopter. Still, it does the job, I had fun building it, and SWMBO loves it.
nice, but if you were gonna go through the trouble of making dovetail drawers you should have used some undermount slides. sidemounts kinda take away the glory of dovetails
Of course, you're right, Pete, and thanks. I did have a couple of reasons for using the slides I did: 1) the piece could only be 18 inches deep and I wanted to maximize the number of DVD's the drawers held and 2) I wanted to be able to pull the drawers all the way out to read all of the DVD labels . I think you're still right though. The drawer pockets are tall enough where you can see well into them. Good call.
