I was given 3 ten foot long 2"x2" hickory sticks last week with only one leg failure and a lot of nice rung stock. This wood was the edge rips from wide boards so there is a lot of really nice quartersawn stock. We live at 7000 feet in altitude here in Flagstaff and water boils at 194 degrees some things just take longer to do. This wood is very dry having been in Arizona for 2 years, kd or air dried who knows? .We also made 3 new leg bending jigs this week. I use cut inner tubes to tie off the leg tops in this type of form. My steamer is simple and inexpensive with the ability to be extended to 5 feet.
