Cant wait to see the final pictures. Unbeatable design and craftsmanship.

Cool design...what did you charge? I am guessing between $16-18K. Where are you located? I have a customer that may need something along these lines.

You should put that in a couple design magazines. I would promote that piece as much as possible. Good work.

I hate to be a downer, but I don't really see what all the fuss is about. In my opinion the bar top is a bit weak and isn't balanced with the rest of the bar. Just a thought.

BenR,

I agree it could be more balanced, it was suggested to the customer. His problem with making it bigger was that it would come out to far in the room and would take up space which was limited.

Their Bar Stools are going to ding the **** out of those wonderful panels. Clients often have a hard time thinking about the future. Great job though!

hate to sound critical but i tend to agree that the design really isn't anything special. i would scrap those columns entirely since they make it appear as if a cnc robot made the bar. i do like those panels though. the frame and panel is black walnut? or stained?

Geoff a CNC robot did make the bar, welcome to the 21st century.
Posted By:Geoff Stiles
seems like all the praise is due to your 21st century robots then! i still believe in making things by hand no matter the year. CNC is a great way to reduce the need for human woodworkers which i guess is your agenda, or perhaps its just about profit.

Geoff,

Aparently you dont know much about the modern woodworking process, just because you have a cnc doing the work doesnt mean you dont have an artist on the computer telling the machine how to do its work. The human element is never taken out of the craftsmanship process, just the danger of making complex and unique cuts with high speed tools.

Amen Doug!

i think perhaps we need to agree to disagree on all this since to me a cnc devalues the concept of handmade. i think you will find that aesthetically most people will agree with me that a cnc doesn't make an heirloom. i'm sure however that you do wonderful work. my issue was really more with the adoring public who gush over work that is in my opinion average at best.

Come on guys, lets give Doug a break here.I wouldn't mind sipping a beer at that bar.I agree that the top is a little narrow but it is what the client wants.Doug,is there going to be a metal foot rail installed in the future??
Posted By:Doug Pritchard
Yes they are going to install it after the tile is put down.
