Prototyped for a Belgium designer, these canes are each fabricated from a single piece of White Ash or American Beech. Compressed wood was used in order to make the extreme bend. The canes are shown unfinished. The design is under copyright. The cane is designed to provide back relief for the user.

Interesting. Looks like the kind of bending done with liquid ammonia.

As a cane user I don't see any obvious way to securely grip it, nor any way to get any support from it. How does holding on to a curlique help my back?

Do you have a picture of anyone using one?

Good Question - but that would be one for the designer. I'm the fabricator. I understand that the idea is to be able to sit on it to relieve the back. The cane would be at an angle, to provide a gentle resting position for the user who sits against it.

I still don't see it. If it is so short that you can use it as a chair then it would be useless as a cane, or at least you would have to bend over so far to use it that it would give you a back ache. If you sat on it on soft ground would it not just sink? I also don't see any way to get any support while using it as a cane, or even a good grasp on it....your hand would slip. You said you cannot answer for the designer so I will expect no response, but have you considered your product liabilty for producing this walking aid that you cannot describe the correct use and safety of??

Are these available? would be interesting to actually see. Nice fabrication and design. Then there is the issue of whether it works. If it intended to be used as a regular cane but also a temporary seat, clever concept.

Greetings. Looks like some good craftsmanship. Can you bend a one and 1 eighth or quarter oak shaft or staff into a standard one piece simple walking cane? They are a dime a dozen everywhere, but one that thick is a custom matter. I have searched high and low without success. Do you know anybody that can make one as described? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have the bentwood pieces, and they are not structurally sound for weight bearing canes. My friends and I have large diameter hickory and laminates for canes. See www.selfdefensecanes.com

Could you please make two wooden walking sticks, that are wrapped around one another, like ideally more closely entwined with one another?
I'm hoping for dark-colored wood, with a glossy finish, so it looks like a traditional antique. 36 inches in height or taller.
Would it be possible to source quotes for this?
