Greetings Steve, Thats some fine looking wood you chose for this project. If I had any suggestion to make,it would be a minor one so please dont be to upset. It might be the lighting, but I might have tried to make the top drawer match the overall color of the rest of the case. Maybe just a bit of orange color to the top drawer, what do you think ??
looks like you just have a clear finish over it. Unless you are able to use a single board, you will have varying colors unfortunately. The top drawer looks like it would be very close to matching the bottom one. The middle one is to orange. However, I could imagine that if you rotate the center one 180 degrees you may be surprised at the color difference. Give that a try. I think the piece is pretty nice otherwise. Well done.
I think it looks great. I love the contrasts in wood. I think it represents the nature of the product, one board can have varying colors, which I love and try to highlight. That might be why most of my work is for my own pleasure and not for major financial gain, but nice job
I'm also assuming the back and sides are veneered ply? Notice that even though the veneers appear to be bookmatched , the appearrance of the faces appear to contrast in color due to the way they are flipped when aligning the grain. Very natural, very beautiful
no veneers were used and I didn't have a jointer to flatten the rough stock. I can't believe I had the patience to build this using what I had at the time.
