The Bear Clan Chest
This is a one of a kind, innovative design built by Kelly Snake of
Soul Tree Creations.
It is made from 90% recycled wood and salvaged century old pine.
The Bear Clan Chest is a wooden locking safe with a vast amount of possible combinations.
It is comprised of two components. The first section is five units of doors & drawers.
The second part comprises the locking system.
In the locked position, the unit of doors and drawers is positioned slightly to the left, blocked from opening by hardwood columns.
To access the cabinetry a code (which is actually disguised on the front of the chest)must be entered through the eight dials above the columns.
Each dial rotates and pulls out to reveal 12 stops.
When all eight dials are in correct alignment the whole interior section will slide to the right permitting alignment with the hardwood columns.
When the cabinetry is accessed additional secret compartments can be revealed behind the false backs of each door and drawer.
To see a working demonstration of the chest go to You Tube and type in "The Bear Clan Chest".
I am new to this site and would be keen on hearing some constructive critisizm.
Thank You.

its a very interesting concept and i like the style of this one over the "feather chest"
there is one glaring joint that makes me wonder because it looks like a finger joint. did you cut that joint or was that from the recycled wood you used?
Hi Sean, yes, the joint you are seeing is from the recycled materials used. It cost me approximately $50 in materials to build this.
hello,
i noticed on youtube you mentioned you may be making plans available!
im very interested.

I am interested in the plans as well..
Please are they ready as yet?
Gratefully
Hi Ron, Thanks for your interest in this locking system. I don't have the plans for this chest exactly since I wasn't taking pictures at that point in my woodworking journey. I can offer you a set of plans that are the basis of how this locking system works. Go to my new site called www.woodlockplans.ca and look for a plan called "The Clock Lock System". Basically all one needs to do is turn the locking system upsidedown and the sliding drawer/door insert acts as the "Pull" on the right side of the chest found in the plans. Always available to answer questions as you are working through the plans. Good Luck.
