Here's a few pics of the table I made for Dad for his Christmas gift. The top is made from one pc of Sapelle' which was cut in half and glued to make wider. The top is 21 1/2" x 40" The table stands 22" tall. The base is made from Mahogany, mortise and tenoned. The legs are 1 3/8" square and taper on two sides (insides) down to 1 1/8". The apron is 4" wide and has a decorative cove on the bottom edge. The tabletop is held in place with "L" shaped hold downs the slip into a 1/4" slot on the inside perimeter of the table. This allows movement of the top during seasonal changes. It is stained with a medium brown and has a Cordovan Red dye as an undertone. The top is coated with gloss conversion varnish and the base is coated with a satin precatalyzed lacquer.
About 11 hours from start to done.
