This is a piece made from European Beech, finished with oil and wax. The brief was for a large piece of furniture that "anchored" a tall wall in their great room. It would be used for displaying pottery and have a large flat screen TV that would be hidden when not in use. It wasn't supposed to look like an ordinary entertainment center.
The piece is 11 feet tall and 12 feet wide.

not my style but a beautiful piece
Wow, amaizing craftmanship.
Nice work, but was it done on an CNC or by hand?
It was all done by hand (carvings, etc)
It took about 12 weeks to build
i love the look of the piece.
was that 12 weeks full time? or did you work on any other projects at the same time?
im starting to do a lot more woodworking projects versus cabinetry and trim work but find that i need to bring in smaller, quicker jobs while im working on the larger projects so that i have some cash flow into the business.
Very nice..very very nice......RCB
my favorite part is the frame and panel backs...
The finish is amaizing. I imagine that the applied molding on the arched doors was dificult to make, and it looks so nice. Great job.
Very fine work. I wish architechs designed houses to accommodate cabinetry in a more integrated manor. If the windows here were over a bit, and a bulkhead/soffit was provided in the design then this entire piece could have been integrated as a wall built into the house.....Which, to me, in my not so humble opinion, would be better than free standing furniture which cannot be extended to the exterior wall because it would intefer with the windows and stops short of the ceiling.
AS much as I like a well built piece of built in furniture, the look here was for a piece of "collected" furniture that was big enough to fit on the wall. I enjoy making things that look like furniture and not so much modern standard cabinetry. (Overlay, cope and stick doors, etc
You are an amazing craftsman. Work like this inspires me to put more detail in my work. I wish i could learn from a guy with your skills. AMAZING WORK!
