I was thinking about this project for almost a year, after I got the solid top from a friend. I just finished it on time for Sunday's show. I used walnut, hard tiger maple for doors and drawer fronts, ambrosia (wormy) maple for door panels, soft tiger maple for drawers, spalted maple and ebony for pulls and walnut burl for drawer panels.The back is shiplap curly walnut. I left the live edge on the top, and also left an obious chainsaw mark on the right side of the top. This was a fun project.

How do you seal or protect the bark from coming off the edge of the top?
that is a very interesting combination of colors and textures. i like how the handles look like a small critters paw with 3 long claws.
is there a reason why you used a false front on an inset drawer? instead of half blind DT directly on the drawer front.
this has some really fantastic and original elements! I love the drawer pulls and the maple door panels. There is A LOT going on in this project, however. Maybe a simple maple top would be appropriate, to highlight the beautiful face of the piece.
Thank you guys for your coments. Gustav, I develop the desing as I was bulding it. It is the first time I used a live edge flitch, and I had no idea on how to seal the barck from falling off so decided to use Gorilla glue to seal the bark. Is this the right way? Whitney, my son agrees with you, a simple top would have look better but I wanted to experiment in something new to me and I built the piece around the top. One of the reasons in posting here is to get feedback on a rough top with finer elements on the rest if the project.
Sean, you are absolutely right, why didn't I dovetail the front? I realize I sould have done just that after the fact. I never dovetail miter frames but that would have been ok.

I think you used a false front on the drawers on purpose, because the contrasting colour of the dovetails perfectly accentuates the style of the piece. It wouldn't look the same without those colours on the drawer sides. It might have been a subconscious decision, but it was the right one. ;-)
