Black Walnut Rocking Chair

I made this chair from Black Walnut and recently gave it as a Christmas present for a close friend recovering from brain tumor surgery. The rockers are bent laminates, as well as the back splats. A hand carved seat with burned-in walnut leaves and a burned-in walnut tree in the lower support. This chair was designed using Pro Engineer CAD software and has great lumbar support, is well balanced and very comfortable. Finished with Sam Maloof hand rubbed oil. Beautiful woodwork and detail. I always liked Minwax Spec. Walnut & Dark Walnut oil stain (50/50). 24hrs later Wipe with Mineral spirits on damp non lint cloth after 24hrs to removeleft over pigment, dry then oil.
