This is a nice piece also! But the choice of woods used is very distracting. they are all very nice woods in their own right, but they all have different characteristics, grain patterns and textures. Together they look as if you have put something together with scraps. I would Hope the customer picked these items out and not you. Beautifully constructed and porportioned. Very nice detail!!
As I said in my post I took a risk with the mix , something I have not done much of in the last 30 years . This client actually said I want something different . I sketched up a G&G looking design that I thought I wanted to make with cloud lifts and contrasting colored joinery features that are commonly done .
As I was making the templates for the cloud lift rail pattern I realized I was attempting to copy an already done design . Usually I build cabinets I'm a boxmaker , but this time I had an overwhelming urge to do an original piece , besides I had the time .I asked him if he trusted me and he said yes.
All the client could say was wow.My photo skills are pathetic for that I applogize .
When I delivered the piece the client said build me a desk next , a week out till completion , he asked for the WO and and Walnut features .
