This was a commissioned piece I did this summer. They wanted a large blanket chest that would fit nicely at the foot of a queen bed. This ended up being 54" across the front, 24" wide and 38" at the top peak on the back.
Primary wood is some great old growth air dried Black Walnut that came from a tree on a registered historic home (next door actually). Tree was estimated 150 years old. Secondary is Hard Maple for the panels and drawer fronts. Internals are birch. Interior is cedar lined. Hinges are hand crafted as well. One of my nicest projects to date. Finish is spray lacquer and lots of wax.
