A 70th Birthday gift for a man who contributed greatly to the RB211 Rolls Royce Engine.
The box is created from book matched Macassa inlaid in marquetry of dyed Lime, Boxwood, Holly and Ebony. All banded throughout in fine Tiger Burr brown Oak and strung in Boxwood and Ebony stringing. The lid encloses an Oak tray to keep safe the Family Tree Scroll, two medals and a “special things” box which has a marquetry decorated lid, depicting a book with his University Motto on , a feather quill and closed book representing learning.
The drawer front is decorated with a carved acorns and marquetry leaves, representing Seven Oaks School and houses his CBE medal. The interior is upholstered in black leather and the inner lid is fitted with a solid silver hallmarked cartouche, hand engraved with a personal message.
