This is a lectern I built for Gracie Barra America. If you are not familier with Gracie Barra, they teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The lectern is made out of Bamboo. The belt is Amber bamboo and the case is Natural Bamboo. The patch is padauk with curly maple inlay. The "Gracie Barra" across the chest is Amber Bamboo inlayed in, then stained black. The belt is carved to look like a knot, then sports Padauk and Natural bamboo stripes. The dovetails are hand cut. The knob is Padauk and Natural Bamboo. The case is stained with a white wash. The Belt is stained black, then wiped off to leave the grain of the bamboo visible. Therefore the belt does not appear to be pure black as you can see the undertone of the Amber bamboo. The cabinet is finished with Enduro poly. I can't say for sure how many hours went into this. It has been drawn out over a course of several months, and I'm sure I have close to or more then 100 hours.

Kol;
Any time I start thinking I'm pretty hot stuff, I need only to look at your work and I'm immediately put back in my place.
Nice job!
Remarkable work and show worthy details. While this may be a commercial piece, it belongs in a woodworkers' museum.
Kol , beautiful work as always , so very glad to see you post , hang in there .
Kol, you've raised the bar on yourself once again...beautiful work!
