Company Name: Trees to Treasures Custom WoodshopLucky for me this is how rich people like to spend their money. This is a lyptus bar I recently made. The corbels and turnings are maple with a copper highlight. The pics don't do it justice, that's why I'm a woodworker and not a photographer.

Nice looking work. I have to admit though that that is the first time I have ever seen corbels in the place of base moulding. sure is a headscratcher. Anyways, looks good.

Looks good! I agree w/ Kol, corbels on the floor are a little diff. How was the Lyptus to work with? Got a potential job with it coming up and haven't used it yet. Great work again.

I was going for the bear claw look with the bottom corbels. It is different, but the HO liked it.
As for the lyptus, it's hard and heavy. I thought it machined well(planing, shaping, moulding) but get you blades and knives sharpened b4 you start. Sanding took a little longer. I use pocket screws for FF and it can have a tendency to split if your not careful.
It was one of those jobs where once you see the end result you forget how hard it was to get there. I would recommend wearing gloves, splinters are a little rough.

What finish did you use? I use Lyptus for cutting boards that I sell at craft shows. For that, the color variation (pink to brick red) is a big seller, but for other things I struggle getting a uniform color. Yours looks good and that is why I am wondering.

Matt,
I outsource the finishing but I believe the stain was a red mahogany, don't know what brand. As far as the color variations go, I think the finisher adds some stain to the second coat of lacquer to tone it all to a uniform color.
I'm sure it's a little more in depth than that but finishing is over my head. If you want some more info let me know and I'll see what I can find out.
